What destroyed PDP may destroy APC if we don't act fast- Shehu Sani says as he reports recent attack on him to Oyegun

Senator Shehu Sani has called on the National
leadership of APC to act fast otherwise what
destroyed PDP and made many of its members
to defect to APC and other parties may soon
befall it. Sani said this when he led a delegation
of politicians from Kaduna state to pay a visit to
the National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-
Oyegun, in Abuja yesterday. Sani met with
Oyegun over last Sunday's incident where
himself and some APC politicians from Kaduna
state were attacked by some hoodlums who
disrupted a press conference they were holding
in the Nigerian Union of Journalist secretariat in
Kaduna. Sani called for the press conference to
raise alarm over what he described as the
imposition of party delegations from the state to
the upcoming National Convention of the party.
Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Sani
said "They sat down in the palace of their gods
to write names and sent it down here for us to
accept; that can never happen. This was the
seed of the destruction of the PDP, where
individuals considered themselves as gods and
any other person a slave; that will never happen
in Kaduna state. We are here to present our
case and to appeal to the instrument of the
leadership of this party to intervene in the
Kaduna issue before it becomes too late. We are
here to also state it to the party´s national
leadership that we are under siege in
Kaduna. The use of thugs and violence by
agents and close associates of the state
government is one thing we cannot tolerate. If
we continue on this part, where one person feels
he is a god, I think we are simply repeating the
very problem that destroyed the party we
ejected out of power. We are here in the spirit of
that, and we hope that we will get the
cooperation of the national party´s leadership to
come to the rescue of the party in Kaduna
before it is too late".

APC Says 4 Years Is Not Enough To Deliver Promises Made....

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said
yesterday it would be unfair to expect the
President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration
to fulfil its campaign promises within four years
in office.

But this contradicts the party’s position while
seeking power that the fulfillment of some of its
promises would take only a short time.
Among others, APC promised to create 720, 000
jobs yearly; generate, transmit and distribute at
least 20,000 MW of electricity in four years; ban
government officials from seeking medical care
abroad; and make Nigeria economy one of the
fastest-growing emerging economies in the world
with a real GDP growth averaging 10 per cent in
one year.

The party also promised to initiate action to
amend the Nigerian Constitution with a view to
devolving powers, duties, and responsibilities to
states in order to entrench true federalism and
the federal spirit ; create additional middle-class
of at least two million new homeowners in the
first year in government ; create an additional
middle class of at least four million new home
owners in four years; build up to 4,800km of
modern railway lines – one third to be completed
in four years; increase the quality of all federal
government-owned hospitals to world class
standard; amend the constitution to remove
immunity from prosecution for elected officers in
criminal case; and revive the Ajaokuta Steel
Company.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary,
Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi entitled “Re: ‘PDP Unveils
Plans To Sack APC”, the ruling party condemned
what it termed the People’s Democratic Party
(PDP)’s brand of opposition politics characterised
mainly by allegations and open incitement of
separatist agitations across the country.

Supreme Court Judgment: It is not yet dancing time for PDP – Ex- Rivers lawmaker, Kwanee

Former Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House
of Assembly, Leyi Kwanee has said the Supreme
Court Judgement in favour of Senator Ahmed
Markafi on the leadership tussle in the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP is not worth celebrating.
Kwanee in an interview with newsmen in Port
Harcourt said the judgement has no effect on the
fortunes of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said it will take a long time for Nigerians to
recover from the damage of the PDP on the
country’s economy.
The former lawmaker who represented Khana in
the seventh Rivers state House of Assembly also
said the PDP has continued it perceived abysmal
performance in Rivers state.
“PDP is in a state of comatose. It is cancerous
and it does not have the ability to take any
serious minded politician into victory.
“The judgement of the Supreme Court goes to no
issue. It does not deplete the political fortunes of
the APC in any way both in Rivers state and at the
centre.
“When somebody has a terminal ailment and you
give him a little shot of an injection it gives a
temporal relieve. The Judgment is just like
temporal relieve because it has not taken away
the cancer in the PDP.
“It is not yet dancing time for the PDP and i will
advice them not to roll out the drums,” he said.
