Watch your comments on Biafra- Nnamdi Kanu tells acting president Yemi Osinbajo

The leader of the Independent People of Biafra
IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has advised acting
president, Yemi Osinbajo, to be mindful of the
comments he makes regarding the struggle for
the actualization of Biafra.

In a statement released by his lawyer, Ifeanyi
Ejiofor yesterday, Kanu said a comment
Osinbajo made when he met with some Igbo
traditional leaders in June, was not only
provocative but also unacceptable. Kanu
claimed Osinbajo told the Igbo leaders that
the agitation for Biafra is unconstitutional as it
offends section 2 of the 1999 constitution, 2011
[as amended] and that those behind it arrested
and imprisoned.

‘This declaration is respectfully considered as
not only provocative and unacceptable but a
clear case of undue interference with judicial
process, which have the capacity of distorting
the mindset of the judicial officer seized of our
client’s case. It is important to remind the
Acting President that our client’s present
political trial originated from his legitimate
exercise of his constitutionally guaranteed rights
to self-determination as clearly provided for
under extant laws, and International
Instruments/Conventions. It is therefore
reasonably expected that any of such extra
judicial remarks, should not emanate from the
revered office of the Acting President,’ the
statement read
According to Kanu. Osinbajo made the comment
in reaction to the quit notice issued by
members of the Coalition of Arewa Youths
group. The IPOB leader argued that the quit that
was issued by the Northern youth groups
should not be mistaken for the struggle for the
actualization of Biafra which is well recognized
by the Nigerian constitution as self-
determination. He wondered why members of
the Nothern youth group have not been arrested
and charged with treason just the way himself
and members of his group have been charged
to court.

"It is on this note that we most respectfully call
on the Acting President to be more circumspect
in his further remarks as it relates to a
substantive charge before the court. There is
need for total restraint, from comments,
pronouncements, and declarations that have the
effect of distorting the pendulum, one way or the
other, particularly on this phantom criminal
charge" the statement warned
Kanu called on the Federal government to drop
all the charges against him and other members
of his group namely Chidiebere Onwudiwe,
Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi and
Bright Chimezie.

I will go to Kaduna& Lagos; Ohanaeze will cease to exist come 19th of November- Nnamdi Kanu

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),
Nnamdi Kanu, has said that he will be visiting
Kaduna and Lagos state as part of his tour of
various states in the country.
He said this while addressing IPOB members
gathered at his father's compound in Isiama
Afara Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia state on Sunday. He
proceeded to accuse certain media houses of
printing lies about the group and also warned
his followers to boycott the upcoming Anambra
election and all other elections in the South-
Eastern states.
Kanu said: "Some media houses in Lagos don’t
understand how powerful IPOB is. They sit
down and write rubbish. So, I will go to Lagos
to rattle them. I understand some people are
worried.
"Don’t Yoruba Pastors come here? Don’t they
come here to pray? Some of you worship at
Yoruba churches and contribute your money
there. Is that not so? That is why they don’t
want you to be free. We want you to be free;
because if you are free, you won’t contribute
money for them. If you are free, how can they
send their children abroad?"
He went on to say that he does things that
people think are impossible to do, and that he
would ensure that Ohanaeze Ndigbo ceases to
exist come 19th of November 2017.
"Come the 19th of November, Ohanaeze Ndigbo
will cease to exist. They drove themselves
away. I am not in competition with anybody. My
father is a traditional title holder. So, I am not
going to disrespect anybody. I formed, by
myself, the Council of Elders of the People of
Biafra.
"The thing that are impossible to do, that is
what I want to do. That is who I am. The thing
that will happen in 20 years to come, let it
happen now. We don’t fear our enemies. That is
why I will go to Lagos to preach this gospel. I
will do it. My friend, Comrade John Danfulani
came to see me here and he invited me to
Kaduna. I will also go to Kaduna".

'There Will Be No Election In The Anambra State If Nigeria Is Not Restructured Before October 1, 2017'- Nnamdi Kanu Says

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has stated that Anambra governorship election will not hold if Nigeria is not restructured before October 1, 2017”,
He reportedly gave the condition on Monday at an event in Enugu where he received awards from three Igbo groups, including the Eastern Consultative Assembly and the Igbo Students’ Association.
According to him, the election will only be held in the state if the federal government restructures the country before October 2017 and gives him a date for a referendum.
“There will be no election in Anambra State come November 2017 and going forward there won’t be any election until they give me a date for a referendum.
“They know what to do; convene a meeting, I will send my rep; give us a date for the referendum, that is the only way.
“In which part of this earth have you ever found a measure of self-determination to be equated to war except in Nigeria because the political leaders do not understand the difference between self-determination and war?
“Self-determination does not mean hate speech; the status quo can no longer remain. Like my brother Evangelist Eliot Ugochukwu-Uko said, if on or before October 1 nothing happens in terms of substantial restructuring, then there won’t be any election; the people will support us.” - He was quoted as saying
The Anambra governorship election is to hold on the 18th of November 2017.

Biafra: IPOB supporters storm police station in Rivers, demand release of members

Supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra
(IPOB), reportedly stormed a police station in
Rivers state on Saturday, to demand for the
release of three of their members.
The said members were arrested on Saturday,
while returning to their homes, after a visit to their
leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Some IPOB members who took to their Facebook
pages to announce the development, claimed their
members were arrested along Oil pipeline road
and taken to the Obigbo police station in Rivers.
“Yesterday IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu stormed
Obigbo Rivers state. After he left, police arrested 3
IPOB members as they were going home along Oil
pipeline road. This called for a massive protest
that yesterday as IPOB members stormed police
station and demanded for their release or they will
sleep in front of the police station.
“After long wait in front of the gate by IPOB
members, The DPO came out and said that they
were arrested because they put road blocks along
the road. He released them afterwards. WE ARE 1
BIG & HAPPY FAMILY IPOB!,” a user wrote.

Steer Clear of Benue, Rivers - Leaders Warn Nnamdi Kanu

Following Nnamdi Kanu's open announcement of
the States that comprise his anticipated Biafra
Republic, leaders in Benue and Rivers have openly
denounced the plan.

Leaders of the various ethnic nationalities in
Benue and Rivers state have asked Nnamdi Kanu
to steer clear of their lands in his bid to expand
the territory of his proposed Biafra Republic
beyond the five states in the Eastern part of
Nigeria.
Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra
alleged that an agent of the Federal Government,
whose name he did not disclose, offered him
while in detention, to secede with the five Igbo
states but that he rejected the offer because it did
not constitute the complete territory of Biafra.
Kanu had while addressing leaders of an Igbo civil
society coalition said, “They gave me Biafra in
prison with only the five Igbo states; I said no, I
want Benue and Rivers states inclusive.”
But prominent indigenes of the ethnic groups in
Benue and Rivers states, which he is seeking to
annex, described the Biafran agitator as a jester.
For instance, a retired police chief, Abubakar Tsav,
said Kanu must be suffering from ‘mental
ailments’ to utter such utterance.
He said, “I think the man has some mental
problems. What is the connection between the
Tivs, the Idoma and the Igbo? I think the man
needs to see a psychiatric doctor because
something is wrong with him.
“He is not well because nothing connects the
Tivs, the Idoma to the Igbo. How can he say he
wants Benue State to be part of Biafra? He should
stay where he is and carry on with his madness.
We are not ready to be part and parcel of his
madness”
Other prominent indigenes of Tiv, Idoma and
Igede, the three major ethnic groups in Benue
State who also lashed out at Kanu included, a
first-class traditional ruler in Tivland, the Tor
Sankera, Abu King Shuluwa; a former Minister of
Interior, Abba Moro; a former Minister of State for
Education, Professor Jerry Agada and former
Economic Adviser to former president Olusegun
Obasanjo, Professor Ode Ojowu.
King Shuluwa described Kanu as “a man with
little intelligence who dared lumped Benue as part
of Biafra.”
He said, “His level of intelligence is in question,
else, how dare him to annex Benue as part of
Biafra territory. In fact, if you are looking for more
people to be part of your territory, does common
sense not say you should have a talk with them?”
Moro corroborated the monarch’s submission
stressing that the Igbo language, culture and
tradition are clearly different from those of the
three tribes in Benue State.
He said, “Benue is not part of Biafra, we do not
have any relationship with Biafra in genealogy,
culture and by colonial creation, Benue is part of
the north.”
Agada on his part, warned the Indigenous People
of Biafra and the Movement for the Actualisation of
the Sovereign State of Biafra to stop laying claims
to Idoma land as part of their territory.
Also in Rivers State, Ogbakor Ikwerre, a body of
the Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality in Rivers State also
disagreed with Kanu on his demand that Rivers
State must be part of Biafra.
President-General of Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural
Organisation, Worldwide, Professor Simeon
Achinewhu, told source that Biafra failed
in the past because there were attempts by the
former Biafran leader, late Odumegwu Ojukwu, to
force unwilling minority groups into Biafra.
The President, Ijaw Youth Council, Eric Omare,
asked Kanu to have a rethink about the territory of
the Biafra of his dream and restrict it to the states
of the South-East.
Omare said, “The Ijaw nation has said it times
without number that the South-South especially
the Ijaw are not part of Biafra territory.

Nnamdi Kanu is a Non-entity - OPC Roars

The leadership of the Oodua People's Congress
has knocked separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu over
disparaging comments about South-western
political figures.
Nnamdi Kanu
The Oodua People's Congress (OPC) has
described the leader of the Indigenous people of
Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu as a 'non-entity' over
his recent comments on former President
Olusegun Obasanjo and a National Leader of the
All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement by the group made
available to PoliticsNGR and signed by its national
president, Adesope Dare, the OPC said it will not
sit down and watch Kanu insult Yoruba elders.
The statement read;
“The OPC also supports the genuine aspirations of
all self-determination groups who pursue their
aims through non-violent means. The Nigerian
constitution and several international charters, to
which the country is a signatory to, recognise the
right to freedom of association by anybody,
whether individual, corporate or institutional.
"However, in supporting such agitations, we must
not shy away from rebuking Nnamdi Kanu for the
aspersions he has been casting in the direction of
our revered leaders.
"Kanu’s repeated condemnation of former
President Olusegun Obasanjo; former Governor of
Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and others is
condemned in the strongest possible terms.
"The idea of respect for elders might be alien to
Kanu and his ilk, but it is a fundamental part of
the Yoruba culture and tradition and we cannot
afford to overlook such transgressions.
"We, therefore, use this medium to warn Kanu and
other such individuals who are fond of making
careless comments in relation to our leaders; that
OPC will no longer sit back and allow this bunch
of nonentities to disrespect our leaders or to use
them to score cheap political scores.”
