Sad!Another Ivory Coast footballer dies after collapsing on pitch in Abidjan

The Ivorian football federation has been struck
with another major blow after 29-year-old Eugene
Koffi Kouame who plays for Turkish side
Egirdirspor died after collapsing during a football
match at Koumassi Stadium in Abidjan South.
The striker was said to have been playing a
football match with a group of friends on Monday,
when he passed out and was rushed to a
hospital. But emergency treatment failed to revive
him. It was later confirmed that he had passed
away.
Confirming the sad news, his club in a statement
indicated that Kouma suffered a heart attack and
died on Monday.
”It is while wanting to maintain the form
with buddies and other footballers at the
economic capital, that he met the death
due to a heart attack,”reads the statement
published by French news outlet, First
Magazine.
Kouame's death comes a month after fellow
Ivorian player, Cheick Tiote, also collapsed and
died during a training session with Chinese side
Beijing Enterprises.

heanacho set for Tottenham move

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho could well head to Tottenham Hotspur as part of a deal which would see Kyle Walker head in the opposite direction.

Nigerian attacker Iheanacho is apparently close to agreeing a move to Leicester City, but Spurs’ interest could well derail any transfer to the King Power Stadium.

Spurs, who are reluctant to allow Walker to head to City for a fee of 50-million, could work a transfer for Iheanacho into the equation. This would see the Super Eagles man head to White Hart Lane in a cash-plus-player deal, with Walker then joining Pep Guardiola’s side.

Williams, Muguruza into Wimbledon semis

Five-time champion Venus Williams won in her 100th singles match at Wimbledon to knock out French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko and reach the semi-finals.

Williams earned a 6-3 7-5 victory against the 20-year-old Latvian in one hour and 13 minutes on Centre Court. She will play either Britain’s Johanna Konta or Simona Halep in the last four.

Meanwhile, Garbine Muguruza reached her second Wimbledon semi-final with a powerful 6-3 6-4 victory over seventh seed Svetlana Kuznetsova. American Williams, 37, is the oldest player to reach the last four since Martina Navratilova in 1994.

Chelsea in hot chase for Auba!

After missing out on Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea have reportedly turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker is considering his options at the moment, with a big-money offer from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian on the table and the likes of AC Milan having been in contact.

Chelsea have made an approach in reaction to missing out on priority target Romelu Lukaku, who last week agreed to sign for rivals Manchester United. The Blues are reportedly offering €70-million to convince BVB to sell last season’s Bundesliga top scorer.

Kanu Nwankwo Reveals How His Wife Saved His Life Many Years Ago

The Arsenal/Nigerian football legend, Kanu Nwankwo had open heart surgery in 1996 and many years later said early detection by his wife helped avert what might have been a second tragedy. He revealed that his wife Amara didn’t just save his life, but nursed him back to health according to Daily Mirror.

One night, after their three children were in bed and the couple were enjoying the peace and quiet as they prepared to go to bed, Amara was listening to the former striker’s heartbeat and noticed something unusual so she encouraged him to get it checked immediately. Considering that more than a decade earlier, Kanu had needed lifesaving open-heart surgery after being diagnosed with a heart valve defect, he took her advice and it led to the discovery that indeed all was not well, so treatment began immediately.

She recalls: “His heartbeat sounded much louder than normal. I was listening to his chest and it sounded odd.”

Kanu says: “She was saying I should go for a check-up so I took her advice.”

The result of the test showed that Kanu had further damage to his heart and he urgently needed a second operation.

“It was the same faulty valve,” she says. “It was like a ticking time bomb. It’s just one of those things we were lucky to find out.”

You should actually always be conscious of not just your body, but the bodies of your spouses and children.

Sports:Markelle Fultz makes first shot, but Jayson Tatum, Celtics get last laugh

BOSTON – The very first point scored in the much-anticipated Boston-Philadelphia summer league matchup, was by Markelle Fultz.

But as is the case in the regular season and playoffs, it’s the final point that’s remembered which is why the Celtics and Jayson Tatum were feeling pretty good after Tatum’s jumper with 5.7 seconds left lifted Boston to an 89-88 win over the Sixers.

Fultz, who finished with 16 points, got another crack at carrying Philadelphia to victory only to have his up-and-under shot attempt blocked by Jaylen Brown.

Even though Brown (29 points, 13 rebounds) was easily the best player on the floor for either team, the story of the night centered on the play of Fultz and Tatum.

Having come up through the AAU circuit having competed against each other previously, Tatum knew that Sunday’s game would be in the eyes of many, a big deal because of him and Fultz.

But Tatum refused to let the white noise that hyped up their matchup, affect his play.

“Me and Markelle have known each other a long time from high school, played against each other, all-star games,” Tatum said. “We finally reached our dream and I’m pretty sure we’ll compete against each other for a long time.”

While the Celtics were certainly pleased with the outcome, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens was more focused on how Tatum played and not necessarily what stats he registered.

“The most important thing is playing hard and getting a feel for our system,” Stevens said prior to the game. “Whatever happens today, I don’t care with regard to stat line and those type of things. It’s more, ‘are you getting one step closer to being what you need to be to help our team next year?’”

Brown was among the many Celtics impressed with Tatum’s performance, showing an uncanny cool and calmness you don’t see often in rookies let alone 19-year-old ones.

A year ago, Brown was exactly where Tatum was – the No. 3 pick trying to prove himself to his older teammates and to the rest of the league.

“Last year when I was in his spot I was so nervous,” said Brown who repeatedly attacked the rim in his summer league debut a year ago and went to the free throw line but struggled to make shots. “I think I shot 17 free throws and I only had like 15 points. I was so nervous. I could see it in his eyes, he was nervous early.”

Tatum acknowledged he did have some butterflies at the start of the game.

But as it progressed, he calmed down.

And when it mattered most, Tatum was as clutch as they come.

“He has this old soul … he doesn’t get rattled,” said Celtics assistant coach Jerome Allen who is coaching the team’s summer league squad in Salt Lake City. “Just kind of plays at his pace, like he’s been here before, at 19.”

And down the stretch, Tatum was pleased that the coaching staff had enough confidence in him to take – and make – his first game-winning shot.

“It put a lot of pressure on me, to take the shot,” Tatum said. “But that’s what summer league is for; to learn some things, if I would have made it or miss it.”
